What is physical therapy?

How do I receive physical therapy?

In order to receive physical therapy, patients need to obtain a prescription from a physician. Physical therapy may be an option to help treat pain or to help with the healing process after an injury or surgery. In Illinois, patients have the right to choose at which facility they would like to receive their physical therapy.

How do I schedule an appointment?

OccuSport Physical Therapy has many locations in the Chicagoland area conveniently located close to your home or office. All clinics have morning and evening appointments available to meet the demands of your schedule. When calling to make your first appointment, please have your prescription and insurance card available. We will verify your insurance benefits and give you an estimate of coverage.

Will the physical therapist communicate with my doctor or rehab nurse?

As your therapy progresses, we will update your physician/rehab nurse on your condition. A progress note will be faxed over to your doctor before each follow-up appointment. Communication between your doctor and therapist is essential to making your rehabilitation a success.

What type of follow-up is offered?

At OccuSport Physical Therapy, we emphasize continuing your treatment with a home exercise program. Your therapist will design a program for you on your final visit so you can continue to maintain the gains you made while in therapy. If discharged, you may have questions, and the staff at OccuSport will assist you with these follow-up needs.
